Services

Synthetex leads with support at the onset of a project, building on our staff's strong technical and interdisciplinary foundation in erosion control and scour protection solutions.

Synthetex provides sustainable, innovative, cost-effective alternatives to conventional erosion control and scour protection practices, such as rip-rap and gabions, in civil construction; infrastructure, water, environmental and industrial, energy and natural resources.  Conventional construction methods are generally time consuming and result in higher project costs.  Applied under the most challenging conditions, our comprehensive solutions save design and construction time, resources, and money.  Our selection of services are offered to provide our clients with a flexible and customized approach to each of our working relationships.  The scope of these benefits increases if we’re brought into a project during the planning or procurement stages.

Our fabric formed concrete erosion control and scour protection solutions, provided to the owner directly or to the projects consultant, general contractor or subcontractor, typically include:

  • Consultation

Our engineers are available to provide preliminary engineering-related consultation and services such as meeting with your project team to present our capabilities and discuss your project requirements or job site visits.  The information gathered will enable us to present conceptual engineering design recommendations.

  • Conceptual Engineering and Design

Our project-specific conceptual designs allow you to evaluate your options and maximize the cost-benefit ratio of various design approaches.  Conceptual engineering and design services can include: design calculations; drawings; installation metrologies; estimating; value engineering; constructability reviews; scheduling analysis; site logistics; bid packaging recommendations; material selection and specification; and cost validation.  Our virtual design and construction team can also provide support by using available technology to communicate, evaluate and understand your project.  Typical deliverables include visual tools such as 3D drawings and visual construction simulation/sequencing. We at Synthetex realize that design coordination is typically performed as part of a engineer's contract with their owner.  Synthetex, however, has developed our own internal process for Product Installation Modeling (PIM).

  • Stamped Engineering Designs

Working with specialists under contract with Synthetex, our comprehensive engineering design services can include levels of design support from conceptual to final design, plus stamped design and construction drawings.

  • Construction Assistance

Clients that team with us in a project’s pre-construction stage benefit greatly from our teams’ vast “first hand” experience.  Early on-site involvement allows our field assistance specialists to identify project challenges while allowing ample time to act on and benefit from our time-saving installation techniques that provide additional construction cost and schedule savings.

  • Value Engineering

Our engineers, market managers and field assistance specialist work together to review your project.  Value, quality and life expectancy are key components we use to determine which recommendations will best meet the needs of our clients.  We use a formalized process to identify, present and track the value engineering option with detailed submittals for each.

When presenting value engineering options to a client, our team categorizes each option according to our key considerations during value engineering:

  • Cost Reduction – We can present a less expensive alternative to a specified product or system, which may or may not include a difference in quality.

  • Value Added – We can offer a higher quality product that may or may not carry a higher price but will bring added value to the project.

  • Life-cycle Analysis – During our review of products and systems, we typically identify options that will allow us to strike the proper balance between initial construction cost and long-term operational costs.

  • Maintainability – We review the project from the perspective of the owner’s maintenance staff and recommend products that can produce long-term savings through reduced maintenance costs.
